John G. Young

John G. Young is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Film at Purchase College, State University of New York, and Chair of The Film Conservatory. He holds a BFA from Purchase College and has been a prominent figure in independent and educational filmmaking for over 25 years.

Research Interests: Focuses on narrative filmmaking, LGBTQ+ representation, and educational media. His work blends artistic creativity with social commentary, particularly through award-winning features like Parallel Sons and Rivers Wash Over Me.

• Jury Award for Best Feature (Chicago International LGBT Film Festival)

Advising & Grants: Supervised Human Relations Media projects including Amazing Kids of Character and Portraits of Empathy. Continues directing pharmaceutical videos for Merck and Pfizer.

Labs/Teams: Collaborates with Anson Schloat on educational series and maintains an active role in the film industry through Sundance, Tribeca, and other festivals.
