Ute Pleuger is a renowned German artist and former professor of painting at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle (1999–2016). Born in 1956, she studied painting at Berlin University of the Arts under Prof. Marwan and organ with Oda Jürgens. Her career includes studios in Paris (1983–1985), Berlin (1986–2006), and Caputh (2007–present). She has received prestigious awards like the 1985 Talent Award and the 2004 Ilse-Augustin-Award.
Her research explores intersections between music and visual art, evident in works like Fugen (fugue-inspired abstract paintings) and Plein-Jeu (color-sound translations). Teaching over 90 students, she emphasized structured creativity. Major exhibitions include solo shows at Berlinische Galerie, Seoul Museum of Art, and international venues. Her art space in Caputh showcases her later works.
Key awards include scholarships from Berlin Senate and DAAD, and recognition for graphic works like Linolschnitt heute (1992). Her legacy includes founding a 'school' of analytical, structured art with over 100 works across series like Serial Spaces and Drift.
