Unnikrishnan Kuzhiumparambil

Dr. Unnikrishnan Kuzhiumparambil is a Senior Research Fellow at the Climate Change Cluster (C3) at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). He leads bio-materials research and manages multidisciplinary teams focused on bioplastics and sustainable building materials. Previously, he held postdoctoral roles in forensic toxicology at UTS and worked at the Centre for Medicinal Plants Research in India. His academic journey includes a PhD in Chemistry and Biomolecular Sciences from Macquarie University (2011).

He coordinates the course *Bioreactors and Bio-processing* and teaches Organic Chemistry and Environmental Biotechnology. His research spans algal biotechnology, bio-based polymers, and biomining for rare earth elements. Key contributions include optimizing microalgal biomass harvesting, developing algae-based adsorbents, and advancing sustainable materials science.

Funded projects include collaborations with industry partners like Southern Green Gas and PNG Natural Seafood, focusing on carbon capture, biofilm technologies, and macroalgae product development. His work integrates metabolomics, chromatography, and omics approaches to address environmental challenges.
