Ulrike Weiss

Dr Ulrike Weiss is an Honorary Lecturer in the School of Art History at the University of St Andrews. She holds a PhD from 1998 focusing on South German Rococo church sculpture and workshop practices. Her research bridges material culture studies with gender analysis, specializing in the long eighteenth century, Hanoverian court culture, and equestrian iconography. She has curated major exhibitions such as the 2018 'Sidesaddle: 1690-1935' at the National Sporting Library and Museum. Notable awards include a 2020 Leverhulme Research Fellowship for her project on female equestrians and gender performance.
