Dr Agnès Bos is an Honorary Senior Lecturer and Lecturer in Museum Studies at the School of Art History, University of St Andrews. Previously, she served as a Senior Curator at the Louvre's Decorative Arts department (2006–2017), focusing on French furniture, tapestries, and textiles from the Late Middle Ages to the 17th century. Her research spans decorative arts history, the history of collections, and the ceremonial practices of the French Royal Order of the Holy Spirit (16th–19th centuries). She curated major exhibitions and authored comprehensive catalogues, including the 2019 volume on Louvre's Medieval and Renaissance furniture, a landmark multidisciplinary project.
Education: PhD from École pratique des Hautes études (2000), former student at École nationale des chartes (Paris).
Research Interests: Decorative arts, furniture history, museum studies, history of collecting, and the material and ceremonial culture of knighthood orders. Current projects include a 2022 Louvre exhibition on the Order of the Holy Spirit and a Getty Museum collaboration.
Grants & Collaborations: Invited Guest Scholar at the J. Paul Getty Museum (2021).
Labs/Teams: Collaborations with conservators and scientists at the Louvre and other institutions on multidisciplinary art research projects.
