Dr Uche Ogbonda serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Real Estate within the School of Science, Engineering & Environment at the University of Salford. She holds significant administrative responsibilities as Deputy PGR Director in SSEE Admissions and Recruitment, MSc Dissertation Coordinator, and Co-lead of the Real Estate Research Cluster. Previously, she served as West African Coordinator of the African Real Estate Society (AFRES), demonstrating her international engagement in the field.
Her educational background includes a PhD from the University of Salford with research focused on school building design in gas flaring areas of Nigeria, an MSc from the University of Reading, and a BTech from Rivers State University. She also completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) at Salford, qualifying her as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
Dr Ogbonda's research spans two interconnected domains: UK-focused studies on construction productivity, urban heritage regeneration, and sustainable infrastructure management; and Nigeria-focused investigations into environmental impacts of gas flaring, particularly regarding school infrastructure and children's health. Her work bridges academic theory with practical applications in both developed and developing contexts, addressing critical issues in sustainable urban development and environmental health.
Her recent publications (2023-2025) demonstrate a strategic shift toward integrating construction performance measurement with sustainability goals, while maintaining her foundational work on Niger Delta environmental challenges. The research output shows strong methodological diversity, combining quantitative performance metrics with qualitative case studies of urban regeneration projects and environmental health impacts.

As an active supervisor, Dr Ogbonda oversees undergraduate projects and postgraduate students across MSc, MPhil, and PhD programs, having successfully examined over ten PhD candidates and chaired PhD vivas. Her teaching portfolio includes Introduction to Urban Regeneration, Advanced Valuation, Asset Management, and Research Methods across multiple disciplines. She regularly serves as a journal and conference reviewer, contributing to academic quality control in her fields of expertise.
Dr Ogbonda co-leads the Real Estate Research Cluster within the Built and Human Environments research center at Salford, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration on urban development issues. Her work connects UK-based construction management research with Nigeria-focused environmental health studies, creating a unique transnational research profile that addresses both developed and developing world challenges in sustainable urban environments.
