Tyson Ochsner

Tyson Ochsner is a Regents Professor of Plant and Soil Sciences at Oklahoma State University (OSU). His research focuses on soil physics, soil moisture dynamics, and their applications in agriculture, meteorology, and environmental modeling. He earned his B.S. from OSU in 1998, followed by a M.S. and Ph.D. in Soil Science from Iowa State University (2000, 2003). Prior to his current position, he worked at the USDA Agricultural Research Service in Minnesota (2003–2008). His work emphasizes multi-scale soil moisture monitoring and improving data utilization for sustainable land and water management.

Key research interests include soil-plant-atmosphere continuum interactions, drought adaptation, wildfire danger prediction, and sensor network development (e.g., CRONOS, Oklahoma Hydronet).
