Tyrone Christopher Hamler is an Assistant Professor at the University of Denver's Graduate School of Social Work, affiliated with the Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging. His research focuses on health inequities, chronic kidney disease, aging, and the intersection of mental and physical health. He holds a BA in Social Work from the University of Cincinnati, an MSW in Health and Aging from the same institution, and a Ph.D. in Social Welfare from Case Western Reserve University.
Dr. Hamler's work emphasizes health equity through policy and practice, challenging traditional social work methods to promote anti-oppressive care. He serves as Vice Chair of the Minority Issues in Gerontology Advisory Panel for the Gerontological Society of America, an editorial board member for the Journal of Nephrology Social Work, and a member of the Association for Gerontological Education in Social Work.
