Professor Tun Myint is a Political Science faculty member at Carleton College since 2007, with a joint PhD from Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs and School of Law (2005). He chairs the Department of Political Science and is affiliated with Indiana University’s Ostrom Workshop.

- Co-Founder/Editor, Independent Journal of Myanmar Scholarship
- Co-Founder, Mutual Aid Myanmar
- Director, Political Economy and Ecology of Southeast Asia Study Program
Research Focus: Explores intersections between social change and global environmental change, emphasizing democracy, sustainability, and Southeast Asian geopolitics. His work spans political ecology, transnational environmental governance, and constitutional development in Myanmar.
Recent Teaching: Courses on international relations, Southeast Asian political economy/ecology, and field research methods. Affiliated with Carleton’s Environmental Studies program.
Scientific Contributions & Recognition:
- Published in Ecology & Society, Perspectives on Politics, and Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies
- Author of Governing International Rivers: Polycentric Politics in the Mekong and the Rhine
- Postdoctoral research on democracy and environmental governance at Indiana University
- Consulting role in Burmese constitutional drafting (2000-2005)
Labs & Collaborative Initiatives: Co-founded the Independent Journal of Myanmar Scholarship and Mutual Aid Myanmar, and directs the Public Memory of Myanmar Digital Archive. Affiliated with the Ostrom Workshop at Indiana University.
