Erin McAuliffe is an IPI Cybersecurity Fellow at the Jackson School of the University of Washington, specializing in Southeast Asian Studies with a focus on Myanmar’s political reforms, identity dynamics, land rights, and infrastructure. Her work bridges cybersecurity policy with regional expertise, including analysis of US-Myanmar relations.

Research Interests: Erin’s research examines the historical foundations of ethnic classification in colonial Myanmar, overlapping ethnic entitlements, and the socio-political challenges of modern infrastructure and land governance. She also explores cybersecurity strategies in geopolitical contexts and development projects in Southeast Asia.
Notable Contributions: Erin served as Senior Researcher on the Tableau Foundation and Enlightened Myanmar Research (EMR) Applied Research Project, investigating the intersection of technology and policy in Myanmar. Her work integrates field-based insights from northern Thailand, where she taught on a Fulbright Grant and collaborated with World Education Thailand and human rights organizations.
