Troy Mariage is an Associate Professor in the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology, and Special Education at Michigan State University. He holds a PhD from the same university and is affiliated with the College of Education. His research focuses on literacy instruction for students with mild disabilities, early reading and writing strategies, cognitive development for self-regulated learning, and creating schools as learning organizations. He currently explores how teachers can provide concurrent academic and social support for students with significant learning and behavioral challenges.
Dr. Mariage’s work emphasizes scaffolding instructional methods, such as close reading and dialogic learning, while leveraging technology to enhance accessibility for learners with special needs. His studies often intersect special education, autism spectrum disorders, and inclusive pedagogy. Recent projects address mathematics interventions for ASD students and dyslexia-inclusive design. Articles span topics like teacher preparation, computer-assisted learning for autism, and sociocultural frameworks in education.
