Trevor Martin

Trevor Martin is a Senior Lecturer at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), concurrently serving as Director of Exhibitions and Associate Curator in the Department of Exhibitions and Exhibition Studies. He holds a BA from Transylvania University (1992) and an MFA from SAIC (1998). His work bridges performance art, social practice, and curatorial initiatives, emphasizing community engagement and public art.

Key professional activities include organizing exhibitions at prominent venues such as the Chicago Cultural Center, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and international spaces like the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul. His teaching focuses on socially engaged performance art, drawing from Chicago's activist heritage and theorists like John Dewey and Tania Bruguera.

Currently teaches Performing (the) Social: Social Practice and Performance Art, emphasizing collaborative community projects and critical theory. His curatorial practice explores intersections between art, activism, and public space.
