Dr. Travis Wiltshire is an Associate Professor at Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences, specifically in the Department of Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence at Tilburg University. His research focuses on interdisciplinary applied cognitive science, particularly team coordination dynamics modeled through dynamical systems theory. Key areas include collaboration in extreme environments (e.g., space missions), esports team performance, and medical team training.
Current courses taught: Complex Systems Methods for Cognitive and Data Scientists and Statistics II for Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence. External collaborations include the EPICLE project (University of Southern Denmark) studying psychotherapy coordination.
Research highlights include developing frameworks for assessing team cognition in long-distance space missions and creating tools like the LoCoMoTe Dashboard for VR locomotion categorization. Active projects span drone tactics for first responders and sensor-based social analytics for team performance enhancement.
Key contributions include over 55 publications, with 2024 works addressing space mission collaboration, Dota 2 esports dynamics, and medical simulation-based training. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to innovation and technology access.
