Dr. Tracie Scott is an Assistant Professor at Heriot-Watt University, Dubai, affiliated with the School of Social Sciences. She holds a PhD in Law and teaches undergraduate law and postgraduate courses in International Business Management, Business Administration, Finance, and Accountancy.
- Education: BA (English Major, History Minor), LLB, LLM from University of Alberta; PhD in Law from Birkbeck College, University of London (2010)
Her research focuses on property and constitutional law, commercial law in comparative contexts, human rights, social justice, and Indigenous rights. She authored the 2012 book Postcolonial Sovereignty: The Nisga’a Final Agreement, which remains a key resource on Indigenous treaties in Canada.
Recent publications (2022-2025) emphasize Aboriginal rights, Indigenous resurgence, Covid-19 legal challenges, and global corporate governance, aligning with her interdisciplinary expertise spanning law, business, and social justice. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to reduced inequalities and peace, justice, and strong institutions.
Dr. Scott serves as Co-Editor of the British Journal of Canadian Studies and actively participates in international conferences on Indigenous rights and constitutional law, including a 2023 seminar on 'Indigenous People and Canada' hosted by UCL Institute of the Americas.
