Tracey Sach is a Professor in Health Economics at the University of Southampton, affiliated with the School of Primary Care, Population Sciences and Medical Education. She holds the title of NIHR Senior Investigator and has over 20 years of academic experience, previously serving at the University of East Anglia and the University of Nottingham. Her research focuses on health economics, particularly economic evaluations alongside randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and outcome measurement using non-monetary preference-based methods. She has a special interest in dermatology, falls prevention, rehabilitation, and primary care economics.
Current projects include leading health economics components in NIHR-funded trials such as the Optimising Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance (NIHR156746), Preventing Food Allergy in Infants (NIHR206263), and Antimicrobial Stewardship in Primary Care (NIHR158312). These projects emphasize cost-effective solutions for healthcare challenges.
Professor Sach has received numerous awards, including the UEA Research Impact Award (2019) and NIHR Career Development Fellowship (2014). She actively collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and holds external roles such as membership on the NIHR Methods Fellowship Panel and the Public Health Interventions Advisory Committee (NICE).
Her teaching roles include leading the 'Health Economics and Evaluation for Public Health' module on the MSc in Public Health and supervising medical and postgraduate research projects. She contributes to medical education through modules like MEDI2045 and critical appraisal training.
