Professor Tracey Sach is a NIHR Senior Investigator and Professor in Health Economics at the University of Southampton's School of Primary Care, Population Sciences and Medical Education. Previously at the University of East Anglia (1998–2014) and the University of Nottingham (pre-1998), her career spans academic roles from Lecturer to Professor. She holds advanced degrees including a PhD in Economics, MSc in Health Economics, and multiple postgraduate certificates in education and health research.
Research Focus: Specializes in economic evaluation methodologies, particularly in randomized controlled trials, and outcome measurement using non-monetary preference-based tools. Key areas include dermatology economics, falls prevention, rehabilitation, public health, and primary care. Leads NIHR-funded projects like the £3M Opti-MaP maternal death surveillance initiative and the £2.9M study on food allergy prevention through early complementary feeding.
Awards & Recognition: NIHR Senior Investigator, UEA Research Impact Award (2019), ISSLS Clinical Science Prize (2007), and multiple fellowships. Serves on national committees including the NIHR HTA Commissioning Board and NICE's Public Health Interventions Advisory Committee.
Teaching & Supervision: Module lead for Health Economics in Public Health MSc programs and supervises PhD students. Contributes to medical education through the MEDI2045 Research for Medicine module.
