Tracey Lauriault is an Associate Professor in the School of Journalism and Communication at Carleton University, with cross-appointments to the MA in Digital Humanities and the Institute for Data Science. Her research focuses on critical data studies, examining how data systems impact society through themes like data sovereignty, smart cities, and algorithmic governance.
She leads or co-leads multiple funded projects including:
- Building a Data Collaborative for Tracking Greenhouse Gas Emissions (Canada First Research Excellence Fund)
- Veracity and Truth Discovery of Multimedia Data (Carleton REALISE Seed Grant)
- Archives 4.0: AI for Trust in Records (SSHRC Partnership)
- Data Humanitarianism during COVID-19 (Carleton Rapid Response Grant)
