Dr. Torik Holmes is a Hallsworth Research Fellow at the Sustainable Consumption Institute, University of Manchester. His research focuses on plastics recycling, sustainable transitions, and the roles of actors in plastic packaging systems. He holds a PhD in Sociology from Lancaster University and has conducted postdoctoral research on energy demand and sustainability challenges in Manchester. His work bridges theories of social practice and science and technology studies, addressing issues like waste management, smart cities, and low-carbon transitions. Holmes has contributed to projects such as the UKRI-funded 'One Bin to Rule Them All' and collaborates on initiatives like the JUST Centre for Sustainable Transformations. He has received awards including the 2024 Social Responsibility Medal and the Sociology Staff Prize for Public Engagement.
