Helen Holmes is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Manchester, affiliated with the Sustainable Consumption Institute (SCI) and the Morgan Centre for Research into Everyday Lives. She holds a BA in Geography from Durham University (2002), an MA in Human Geography Research from Sheffield University (2005), and a PhD in Sociology from Sheffield (2014). Her research focuses on material culture, sustainability, circular economy, and qualitative methods. She has led major projects like the JUST Centre (ESRC-funded) and CHaMP (EPSRC), exploring sustainable practices and healthcare material cycles. Holmes has co-edited the Sage journal *Sociology* (2018–2022) and serves on UKRI panels. Her 2023 book *The Materiality of Nothing* examines object absences and everyday life. Awards include the 2024 Social Responsibility Medal and Hallsworth Fellowship (2015).
