Dr. Torgrim Sneve Guttormsen is a Senior Researcher at the Norwegian Institute for Cultural Heritage Research. He holds an MA in archaeology from the University of Oslo and a PhD in archaeology from the University of Gothenburg. His work focuses on heritage theory, politics, and management, alongside memory studies and public archaeology. He actively contributes to strategic research programs such as 'Heritage Politics' and 'Urban Heritage,' addressing challenges in sustainable urban development and cultural preservation.
His research explores intersections between cultural heritage and contemporary societal issues, including environmental monitoring, spatial planning, and community belonging. Guttormsen has co-edited key publications like Heritage, Democracy and the Public and authored influential case studies on local heritage branding. At the ACHS 2016 conference, he participates in sessions analyzing urban heritage, heritage as an agent of change, and leisure-heritage relationships.
