Tony Hobert is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science, Philosophy, Religion & Legal Studies at Winthrop University's College of Arts and Sciences. He specializes in public law, with a focus on U.S. Supreme Court indigenous rights jurisprudence, and explores broader themes like just war theory, constitutional theory, and judicial decision making.

Before his academic career, Dr. Hobert worked in hospice care, taught ecology and astronomy on Cape Cod, preschool education in Arizona, and served as a librarian and habilitation worker. He spent 10 years teaching History and U.S. Government at the Boys & Girls Club of the Umpqua Valley in Roseburg, Oregon, while also acting as a tutor, referee, and chess coach.
