Jessie Hamm is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Winthrop University, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Temple University (2014), an M.A. from Wake Forest University (2008), and a B.S. from Berry College (2006).

Research & Teaching Interests: Dr. Hamm focuses on multiplicative invariant theory, anti-Ramsey theory, group theory, and graph theory. She is also dedicated to improving mathematics education through research on teaching and learning strategies. In the classroom, she enjoys teaching courses like Introduction to Proofs, Modern Algebra, and Joy of Math, and mentors undergraduate research projects.
Outreach & Community Engagement: She actively promotes mathematical outreach through initiatives like Sonia Kovalevsky Days, math summer camps, and the Tri-County Math Teachers’ Circle, fostering K-12 math education. Her efforts emphasize sharing the joy and beauty of mathematics with diverse audiences.
Personal Interests: Beyond academia, she enjoys musicals, reading, running, singing, cooking, and building relationships with others.
