Tony Charles

Tony Charles is a Professor at Saint Mary's University, holding dual appointments in the School of the Environment and Sobey School of Business. He also serves as Senior Research Fellow in Environment and Sustainability, and Director of the Community Conservation Research Network. His teaching focuses on natural resource management, oceanography, and sustainability practices.

Research interests include fisheries management, climate change resilience, ecosystem-based governance, and community-driven conservation strategies. He leads global initiatives exploring fishing communities' roles in environmental stewardship and coasts/oceans sustainability.

Key outputs include UN climate reports, academic books on marine governance, and studies on coastal communities' resilience during crises like the 2020 pandemic.
