Tong Xu is a PhD candidate at Utrecht University under the Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance, affiliated with the Institute of Constitutional, Administrative Law and Legal Theory and the Utrecht Centre for Water, Oceans and Sustainability Law (UCWOSL). Her research, supervised by Prof. Marleen van Rijswick, Prof. Herman Kasper Gilissen, and Dr. Liping Dai, explores China’s environmental governance and legal systems.
Education:
- Master’s in Administrative Law from China University of Political Science and Law
- LLM in Environmental Law and Water Law from University of California, Davis (with UC Davis & CUPL Scholarship)
Research Interests:
- Legal-sociological analysis of environmental and social issues
- Integration of legal argumentation in societal discourse
- Interdisciplinary challenges in environmental governance
- Comparative studies on personal data protection and digital governance
