Dr. Liping Dai is an Assistant Professor at Utrecht University School of Law, specializing in Water Governance, Environmental Law, and Sustainability. She holds a PhD in Water Resources Management from Utrecht University (2015). Her research focuses on comparative studies between the Netherlands and China in water governance, Nature-based Solutions, and urban resilience. She has led interdisciplinary projects on Sponge City initiatives, land subsidence in Shanghai, and climate adaptation. Active in academic leadership, she serves as an editorial board member for the Chinese Journal of Environmental Law and has received awards such as the Future Deltas Call and China Exchange Program funding. Dr. Dai teaches courses on Dutch Law and Environmental Governance, and collaborates with institutions like Wuhan University and the Province of Utrecht.
Her work emphasizes legal frameworks for sustainable water management, including compensation mechanisms for flood risk and eco-compensation schemes.
