Dr. Dries Hegger is an Associate Professor of Regional Water and Climate Governance at Utrecht University's Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development. He specializes in environmental governance, climate adaptation, and water policy, with a focus on citizen engagement and science-policy interfaces. His work addresses societal decision-making around spatial scarcity challenges, particularly in the context of climate change and flood risk management.
He holds a PhD in Environmental Sociology and has served on the board of the 'Water, Climate and Future Deltas' hub within Utrecht University's Pathways to Sustainability theme. His research explores modes of governance integration, policy experimentation, and knowledge co-creation in adaptation projects.
