Anne Tomiche is a Professor of Comparative Literature at Sorbonne Université since 2010. Previously, she held academic roles at institutions such as Université Paris Nord, Université d'Artois, and the University of California, Irvine. Her research focuses on gender studies, classical myth, modernity, avant-garde movements, and the interplay between art and literature. She has been recognized with the Chevalier dans l'ordre des Palmes académiques (2014) and was elected to the Academy of Europe in 2024.
Her interdisciplinary work bridges academia and public engagement, including collaborations with cultural institutions like the Bibliothèque Nationale de France and the Odéon-Théâtre de l’Europe. She founded the interdisciplinary network Philomel and advocates for gender equality through initiatives addressing violence against women. Tomiche also serves as editor for journals and series, including the Clefs concours Littérature comparée and the Comparative Perspectives series on modernity and avant-gardes.
Her teaching spans undergraduate to postgraduate levels, emphasizing comparative literature and theoretical frameworks. She actively contributes to academic governance and international research collaborations, reviewing grants for national and international funding bodies.
