Ourida Mostefai is a Professor of Comparative Literature and French & Francophone Studies at Brown University. She holds a joint appointment between the Departments of Comparative Literature and French & Francophone Studies.

Her research focuses on Enlightenment literature and philosophy, with particular expertise in Rousseau studies, early-modern polemics, religious toleration, and migration narratives from the French Revolution to the 21st century. She works at the intersection of political philosophy, cultural identity, and digital humanities.
Recent publications include the 2024 critical edition of Rousseau's Lettre à d'Alembert and articles in Lumieres, Philosophie Magazine, and Studies in Eighteenth-Century Culture. Her work examines Rousseau's theories of trust, toleration, and citizenship through contemporary lenses like exile, orientalism, and media dynamics.
