Nicholas Cronk is a Professor of European Enlightenment Studies at the University of Oxford since 2018. He has held significant roles including Director of the Voltaire Foundation since 1997, General Editor of the Œuvres complètes de Voltaire since 2000, and Senior Fellow at the Turin Humanities Programme (Fondazione 1563) since 2019. His career spans roles as Professor of French Literature (2005–2018), University Lecturer in French Literature (1985–2003), and Fellow of St Edmund Hall, Oxford, since 1985. He has been President of the Société des études voltairiennes since 2010.
- Fields of Scholarship: Enlightenment thought, Voltaire, 18th-century French literature, Digital Humanities, history of the book, and correspondence studies.
- Major Projects: Creator of Electronic Enlightenment (Principal Investigator, 2000–2009), which digitized 67,000+ letters from 8,000+ correspondents, and leader of the Voltaire Online project to digitalize the 205-volume Œuvres complètes de Voltaire.
