Dr. Tomasz Kamusella is a Reader in Modern History at the School of History, University of St Andrews. His research focuses on language politics, nationalism, and nation-state formation in Central and Eastern Europe. He holds a PhD in Political Science (2001) and a Habilitation in Cultural Studies (2011). Before joining St Andrews in 2011, he worked at Trinity College Dublin and Opole University, Poland.

- MA degrees in English Philology, European Studies, and South African Literature from multiple institutions
Research Interests: Ethno-linguistic nationalism, language construction, historical atlases of language politics, and post-Soviet studies. Recent work includes a monograph on the 1989 ethnic cleansing of Bulgaria’s Turks and ongoing projects on Slavic language politics.
Publications & Grants: Over 400 publications, including books like *The Historical Atlas of Language Politics in Modern Central Europe*. Projects funded by the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the Carnegie Trust. Advised PhD students on topics like the Velvet Revolution and Baltic ethnographic map-making.
Awards & Media: Recognized for supporting the Silesian language. Featured in media like *The Times Higher Education* and Ukrainian TV discussing Russian imperialism and language policies.
Collaborations: Works with international scholars on volumes about Southern African and Slavophone language histories. Part of the St Andrews Institute for Transnational & Spatial History.
