Dr. Tomasina Oh is an Associate Professor in Dementia Research at the Peninsula Medical School, part of the University of Plymouth's Faculty of Health. She holds a fellowship from the National Institute for Health & Care Research (NIHR) and Alzheimer’s Society, focusing on person-centred dementia care, advance care planning, and reducing unplanned healthcare interventions for dementia patients. Her work integrates realist health economic evaluation, global health strategies, and AI in healthcare.
Her research spans bilingualism, psycholinguistics, and cognitive neuroscience, informed by international experience in Malaysia and Singapore. She led the D-PACT project (2018–2024), a NIHR-funded initiative developing primary care-based dementia support systems. This involved innovative methods like realist evaluation and citizen science to enhance patient inclusion, especially for underserved groups.
Dr. Oh’s teaching includes psycholinguistics, child language acquisition, and neurocognitive language frameworks. She supervises research on topics such as bilingual brain function and developmental language disorders. Her current projects explore global health disparities in dementia care, collaborating with Malaysian institutions.
