Tom Reardon is a University Distinguished Professor at Michigan State University's Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics (AFRE). He holds an honorary 'Extraordinary Professor' title at the University of Pretoria. His work focuses on agrifood systems transformation, including supermarket revolutions, midstream value chain dynamics, and rural nonfarm employment. Reardon earned a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley, M.I.A. from Columbia University, and other advanced degrees. He has authored over 500 papers with a Google Scholar h-index of 103, contributing to top journals like Nature Food and Science.
