Tom Parkinson is a Senior Lecturer in Digital Composition at the Department of Music, Royal Holloway, University of London. He is a multi-disciplinary composer, sound designer, and performance-maker with over 80 stage scores for theatre and dance productions, performed globally. His work spans collaborations with notable artists like Bryony Kimmings and Sharon Smith, and he serves as musical director for the Ivgi&Greben Dance Company in the Netherlands.
Research focuses on music-theatre intersections, vocal technologies, experiential heritage, and museum audio. Key projects include A Pacifist’s Guide to the War on Cancer (National Theatre), Social Skin (Korea National Dance Company), and Beat (Prague Chamber Ballet). His music appears on major BBC platforms and international media outlets.
Teaching emphasizes studio-based digital composition, film/TV scoring, and musical theatre creation. He leads a 2023 project on experiential audio in heritage contexts and has presented at conferences on verbatim theatre, dancer-musician collaboration, and computational creativity.
