Tom Moliterno

Tom Moliterno is a Full Professor of Behavioral Strategy at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam School of Business and Economics. He previously held the Earl W. Stafford Endowed Professorship at the University of Massachusetts Amherst Isenberg School of Management (2005–2015), serving as Interim Dean. He also taught at the University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business (2005–2011) and was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Amsterdam Business School. He earned his Ph.D. in Management from the University of California, Irvine (2005), and an MBA in Public and Non-Profit Management from Boston University (1999). Before academia, he worked in non-profit organizations.

His research focuses on strategic human capital and decision-making, published in top journals like Administrative Science Quarterly and Strategic Management Journal. He co-edited the Handbook of Research on Strategic Human Capital Resources (2019) and guest-edited a special issue on sports-based management theorizing. He serves on editorial boards for Journal of Management, Strategic Management Journal, and Academy of Management Review.

Teaching includes courses on behavioral strategy, business model innovation, and leadership across undergraduate, MBA, and executive programs. His work bridges micro and macro organizational perspectives, emphasizing human capital dynamics, strategic decision-making, and institutional contexts.
