Cynthia E. Miree is a Professor of Management at the School of Business Administration, Oakland University. She holds a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the University of Pittsburgh. Her research focuses on strategic management, competitive intelligence, and interdisciplinary approaches to management education. She has authored numerous articles in journals like the Journal of Operations Management and Journal of Competitive Intelligence and Management.
Dr. Miree’s teaching and research interests include strategic management, management education, and non-profit organizations. Her work often explores strategic decision-making in sports leagues (e.g., NHL, NFL) and historical business cases, such as the Negro Baseball Leagues and the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. She has also contributed to studies on human capital, revenue sharing models, and organizational performance metrics.
Her awards include the 2021 CUPA-HR Inclusion Cultivates Excellence Award, 2021 University Assessment Excellence Award, and the 2013 Best Paper Award from the Institute of Behavioral and Applied Management. She has served as a subject matter expert for benchmarking studies and actively contributes to Oakland University’s academic governance, including roles as Assessment Committee Co-Chair.
Her publications span over two decades, demonstrating expertise in strategic group analysis, competitive balance in sports, and the application of organizational theory to real-world business challenges. Her work bridges academic rigor with practical insights for both for-profit and non-profit sectors.
