Dr. Tom Lee is a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at Goldsmiths, University of London, where he also serves as convener of the MA Creative and Life Writing program and co-director of the Goldsmiths Writers' Centre. His academic work focuses on contemporary fiction and memoir, blending literary analysis with personal narrative. Lee holds a PhD in Creative Writing from Goldsmiths (2016), following an MA (2002) and BA (1997) in related fields.
His publications include the 2024 memoir The Bullet, 2017 novel The Alarming Palsy of James Orr, and 2008 short story collection Greenfly. His writing has appeared in The Guardian, Granta, and The Paris Review, among others. He has received awards including the Royal Society of Literature’s Brookleaze Grant and was shortlisted for The Sunday Times Short Story Award in 2012.
Lee’s research explores intersections of mental health, family history, and institutional critique. His audio works like The Current (2022) and How I Write (2022) showcase innovative narrative forms. He previously served as Royal Literary Fund Fellow at the University of Greenwich (2019–2022) and supervises Creative Writing PhD students at Goldsmiths.
