Jack Underwood is a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at Goldsmiths, University of London. He holds a PhD (2011), MA (2006), and BA (2005) from Goldsmiths and Norwich University of the Arts. As a poet, critic, and writer, his work explores intersections between poetry, science (physics/neuroscience), and philosophy. He coordinates the BA English with Creative Writing program and supervises MPhil/PhD research. Underwood founded the Goldsmiths Shorts pamphlet series and co-authored Thirteen Morissettes (2024). His notable works include A Year in the New Life (2021) and NOT EVEN THIS (2021), blending memoir with poetic inquiry. He hosts episodes of the Faber Poetry Podcast, featuring conversations with prominent poets like Raymond Antrobus and Victoria Adukwei Bulley. Awards include the 2016 Authors’ Awards. His research emphasizes new terminologies in creative writing practices and interdisciplinary analogies.
