Tom Fangyun Tan

Tom Fangyun Tan is a Corrigan Endowed Associate Professor in the Information Technology and Operations Management Department (ITOM) at the Cox School of Business, Southern Methodist University. He holds a named professorship and serves the academic community through editorial roles in leading operations management journals.

His educational background includes:

• PhD in Operations and Information Management and MA in Statistics from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania
• Bachelor of Science in Operations Research from Columbia University with minors in Applied Mathematics and Economics

Research focuses on empirical analysis of service operations, particularly how technology implementations affect service delivery efficiency and workforce productivity. His methodological approach combines quantitative modeling with real-world operational data to derive actionable insights for service sector management.
