Tom Beevers is the Head of Philosophy and Assistant Director of the Doctoral School at Northeastern University London since 2022. He holds a PhD from King’s College London, an MSc in Philosophy and Public Policy from the London School of Economics, and a BA in Philosophy from The University of Manchester. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
His research focuses on philosophy of language, philosophical logic, and epistemology, addressing questions like the relationship between knowledge and probability, context-dependent meaning shifts, and retrospective decision evaluation. His work combines rigorous logical analysis with interdisciplinary insights into indeterminacy and semantic context.
Tom has received several awards, including the Jacobsen Essay Prize, Peter Goldie Award, and Elizabeth Wegner Prize. He has published in top journals such as Erkenntnis and Pacific Philosophical Quarterly, and contributed to policy reports on vulnerable youth.
He teaches a wide range of courses in epistemology, philosophy of science, logic, ethics, and critical thinking. Prior to his academic career, he worked at the Early Intervention Foundation evaluating mental health and parenting programs.
