Todd H. Baker serves as Lecturer in Law at Columbia Law School and Senior Fellow at the Richard Paul Richman Center for Business, Law and Public Policy (jointly administered by Columbia Business School and Columbia Law School). He is Managing Principal of Broadmoor Consulting, LLC, providing strategic advisory services to FinTech and financial services executives, and holds board positions at the Opportunity Fund and the Urban Institute's Academic Research Council.
His research focuses on the digital transformation of financial services, with emphasis on emerging business models for traditional banks and non-bank FinTech providers. Key interests include consumer financial access mechanisms, regulatory frameworks for digital finance, and alternatives to payday loans for low-income populations through employer-FinTech partnerships. His work bridges banking innovation, regulatory policy, and financial inclusion.
Mr. Baker is a frequent contributor to major financial publications including the Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal, and regularly speaks at industry conferences. His expertise stems from 14 years as chief strategy officer at MUFG Americas, TD Bank, and Washington Mutual, followed by corporate law practice at Gibson Dunn and Morrison & Foerster representing major financial institutions in complex transactions.
