Talia Gillis is an Associate Professor of Law at Columbia University and a visiting guest professor at ETH Zurich during the spring semester 2025. Her research bridges law and economics, focusing on consumer markets, financial regulation, and the societal impacts of AI and fintech.
- Education: S.J.D. and Ph.D. in Business Economics from Harvard, B.C.L. from Oxford, LL.B. in Law and Economics from Hebrew University
Her work examines how technological and legal changes affect consumer welfare, particularly in household financial behavior. She has explored regulatory tools like financial disclosures, fiduciary duties, and algorithmic fairness, with a current emphasis on AI's distributional consequences.
Recent publications address price discrimination, fair lending algorithms, and personalized law. She has received grants from Columbia University's Richman Center and Harvard's Empirical Law and Finance programs.
