Tobias Pesch serves as a Visiting Professor in the European Legal Studies Department at the College of Europe (Bruges campus) since the 2019/2020 academic year. He maintains a dual professional role as a European competition lawyer at White & Case in Düsseldorf while contributing to academic instruction at the institution.
His professional expertise spans multiple dimensions of competition law:
- Merger control reviews before European and national authorities
- Cartel investigations and proceedings
- Abuse of dominance cases
- Mass claims litigation strategies
- Implementation of legal technology solutions
Mr. Pesch's sector experience encompasses high technology industries, retailing, consumer goods, and automotive sectors, providing him with diverse industry perspectives that inform his academic teaching. His practical experience before both the European Commission and the German competition authority (Bundeskartellamt) offers students valuable real-world insights into competition law enforcement.
Academically, Mr. Pesch completed his Law degree at the University of Bayreuth (Germany) and earned an LLM from the College of Europe specializing in European Law and Economic Analysis. His institutional connection extends beyond teaching, having previously served on the board of the College of Europe's Alumni Association with specific focus on the CoE Alumni in Competition group, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to the academic community.
