Tlaloc Rivas holds dual roles as Associate Professor in Residence at the University of Connecticut and Faculty Lecturer at Yale University’s David Geffen School of Drama and the Undergraduate Program in Theatre and Performance Studies (TDPS). He is a prominent figure in Chicano theatre and arts advocacy, with a career spanning stage directing, playwriting, and educational initiatives.
Education: He earned his MFA in Directing from the University of Washington School of Drama and a BA (with Honors) from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he received the UC Regents Presidential Award, Chancellor’s Honors, and Dean of the Arts Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research.
Research interests focus on classical directing, new play development, and promoting underrepresented narratives in Latina/o/x theatre and world performance traditions. His work bridges social justice advocacy with artistic innovation, particularly through bilingual adaptations and community-driven theatre.
