Timur Sevincer is an Administrative Professor at Leuphana University Lüneburg's Institute of Sustainability Psychology, holding the Professorship of Psychology with specialization in sustainable behaviour. As a motivational psychologist, his work bridges psychological theory and sustainability science through empirical research on cognitive and behavioral mechanisms.
His academic credentials include:
- 2015: Venia Legendi and Habilitation in Psychology, University of Hamburg
- 2008: Ph.D. in Psychology (Summa cum laude), University of Hamburg
- 2004: Magister Artium in Philosophy (Minors: Psychology, American Studies), University of Hamburg
Sevincer's research program centers on future-oriented self-regulation strategies, investigating how individuals spontaneously employ cognitive mechanisms to regulate goal pursuit across domains—particularly sustainable behavior. His methodological approach integrates physiological measures, implicit cognition assessments, ecological momentary assessment, field-based behavioral observations, and large-scale archival data analysis to capture real-world dynamics.
He actively contributes to the Research Collective Action for Sustainability initiative and teaches advanced methodology workshops including Nonlinear Methods for Psychological and Social Sciences (2022-2023) and Bayesian Inference with JASP, emphasizing computational approaches to psychological research.
