Timothy Matisziw

Timothy Matisziw is Associate Professor at the University of Missouri with joint appointments in Geography, Civil Engineering, and Data Science. As Director of the Geospatial Intelligence Certificate program, he develops analytical frameworks for spatial decision-making in transportation, ecology, and security contexts.

Research applies spatial optimization to networked systems, modeling infrastructure vulnerability, habitat connectivity, and urban mobility. Current projects include invasive species detection using satellite imagery and routing optimization for urban systems. Publications address accident hotspot evolution, geodiversity measurement, and prehistoric settlement patterns.

His work integrates machine learning with geospatial analysis to address complex problems in infrastructure management and landscape conservation. Funded projects include NSF, EPA, and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grants supporting algorithm development for spatial systems.
