Wesley Stoner is an Associate Professor of Archaeology at the University of Missouri. His research investigates economic production, exchange systems, and urban development in ancient complex societies through archaeological fieldwork, ceramic analysis, and remote sensing technologies.
Methodologically, he integrates chemical and petrographic analysis of ceramics with LiDAR and multispectral satellite imagery to reconstruct trade networks and settlement patterns. His regional focus includes Mexico and the American Southwest.
Recent publications examine urban network structures in Veracruz, ceramic diagenesis processes, and hydraulic engineering in ancient Mesoamerica. His work combines laboratory science with large-scale spatial analysis to study ancient economic systems.
