Timothy J. Huzar is a Lecturer in Cultural Competency Education at King's College London, based in the Department of Interdisciplinary Humanities within the Faculty of Arts & Humanities. He holds a PhD from the University of Brighton (2017), focusing on themes of visibility in the works of Jacques Rancière, Judith Butler, and Adriana Cavarero, with an emphasis on Black radical traditions. His research explores 'apprehension' as a mode of ethical engagement beyond representation, grounded in continental philosophy, Black studies, and feminist thought.
Key research projects include a monograph on 'Caring Beyond Recognition: Ten Theses on Apprehension' and an examination of Black critical theory and European thought through Moten and Rancière. He co-supervises a PhD student on Deleuze's immanence and anarchism. Tim teaches cultural competency modules and clinical programs, emphasizing vulnerability and Rancière's intellectual equality. He leads two funded projects: 'Critical Intersections' on non-Western/Western dialogues and 'Connecting Education for Sustainability and Cultural Competency.'
Publications span pedagogy, Cavarero's ethics, and critical race studies. His work appears in journals like Cultural Critique, Diacratics, and Critical Horizons. He co-edited Toward a Feminist Ethics of Nonviolence (2021) and organized conferences on Adriana Cavarero's philosophy.
