Dr. Andrea Baldwin (she/her), currently serving as associate dean of research at the School for Cultural and Social Transformation (University of Utah), is a leading scholar in Black feminist geographical and ecological studies. Her interdisciplinary work bridges academia and community activism through initiatives like the Black Feminist Eco Lab (BFEL), a platform for advancing Black feminist thought via research, podcasting, and collaborative workshops.
Dr. Baldwin’s research focuses on:
- Black feminist theorizing toward futurity and resilience
- Caribbean feminist ecologies and diasporic knowledge production
- Decolonial methodologies in academic and community contexts
- Urban geographies and pedagogies centering Black women
The BFEL’s groundbreaking projects, such as the Working at Aliveness workshop and the nationally ranked podcast Standpoints, highlight her commitment to creating spaces for Black and brown communities to reorient narratives beyond oppression.
