Jamaica Baldwin (she/her) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Writing at Ithaca College, affiliated with the School of Humanities and Sciences. A poet and educator from Santa Cruz, CA, she holds a PhD in English with a focus on poetry and Women's and Gender Studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (2023), an MFA in Poetry from Pacific University-Oregon (2017), and a BA in Afro-American Studies from Smith College (2008).
Research Interests: Baldwin specializes in Poetry Writing, Feminist & Displacement Poetics, and Creative Nonfiction. Her work explores themes of familial relationships, bodily identity, memory, and intersections of personal/collective history through innovative poetic forms and metaphorical frameworks.
Publications & Trends: Baldwin's recent works include experimental poetry addressing emotional resilience, gender dynamics, and cultural belonging. Her 2023 book Bone Language (YesYes Books) and publications in journals like Guernica and Prairie Schooner demonstrate a focus on surreal imagery, hybrid forms, and socio-political commentary.
