Timothy A. Spurgin

Dr. Timothy A. Spurgin is the Bonnie Glidden Buchanan Professor of English Literature and Associate Professor of English at Lawrence University, where he has served since 1990. He specializes in Romanticism, contemporary critical theory, and the English novel, and has directed the freshman program twice. His teaching excellence has earned awards like the Outstanding Young Teacher Award and three Babcock Awards.

Research Interests: Focuses on 19th-century literature, including Victorian studies, with published work in Chronicle of Higher Education, Dickens Studies Annual, and Dickens Quarterly.
